23onMe
23onMe is a class developed by Ella Mesma to relieve the stress and tensions induced in desk work. It aims to work the whole body, while simultaneously giving enough pause and calm to slow down the mind. At the heart of it is always accessibility.
The sequence is split into 23 movements in 23 minutes, specifically designed for computer users to relieve aching office desk symptoms
Simple, easy to do and will make the world of difference to your body, focus and stress levels.
The sequence is designed to be done sitting on chairs, or can be adapted to standing.
23 minutes has been found to be the ideal amount of time for a break (Gloria Mark, Ph.D., associate professor, at the University of California) which is why we developed our signature 23onMe class. These exercises are especially valuable if you work long hours at a desk.
Research shows that when we move, blood pressure and blood flow increase everywhere in the body, including the brain. More blood means more energy and more oxygen, which actually makes our brain perform better. (Justin Rhodes, an associate professor of psychology at the University of Illinois ) and thus we improve our brain functioning, increasing our focus, increasing our clarity in thinking and perception, lowering our anxiety levels and becoming more resilient. A short break therefore helps to improve our productivity and safeguards our minds and bodies against longer term problems, such as burn out.
