Question hour and supervision for True North Sweden group
This class follows on from from our September Class "The Heart of the Creative Process" (but can be attended on its own!) Where before we explored creativity in the realm of human consciousness, we now journey into the heart of Creation. Once Before Time (before Time existed as a cosmic organising dimension) there was a primordial Divine Consciousness that conceived of a desire for "something other than itself". This primordial Essence split and duality came into being: self and other, me and not-me. All sentient beings arose from this process and a Divine flame ensouls them. However because of th split into me and not-me we all have primal desire to re-unite with our other part/missing part. Some call this a soul mate. Personally I think of the "other" as all of Creation outside me. If we do not understand this cosmic process, of creating and evolving through duality, we can became over-identified with our human identity as male or female and we can become stuck. To shift our way to the next level of consciousness we need to learn how to dance creatively with all aspects of ourselves. Carl Jung spoke of anima and animus. As shamanic teachers we sometimes work with a hieros gamos or sacred marriage of opposites. This can be done through art, music, dance, writing and in many other ways. In this class we focus on art and this work will continue right through the 2 year sacred art practitioner training. Please note: though this class is aimed at people who will attend this training, this class is open to anyone who wishes to attend.
In this exciting inter-active class we start dreaming our way into the 2 year Sacred Art Practitioner Training at Pendle Hill in the USA! This course has a strong Mystery School aspect. Many spiritual schools of thought teach that we all co-dream the world into being. My co-teacher Susan Rossi and I now wish to take this concept one step further and invite a group of interested people to start dreaming this course into being outside time. We will be looking for the following things: what themes are coming to attention - meaning that they crop up collectively? Are there other questions and intentions we need to dream on as a group to prepare ourselves for doing top quality work at Pendle Hill from January? Here in London I do a lot of dream work with groups of students and I am blown away every time by the layers of meaning and treasure trove of inspiration our dreams offer collectively. And once we start dreaming as a group - our dreams get even more powerful! Imelda Almqvist is a Dutch shamanic painter, practitioner and teacher based in London, UK. She has "walked between worlds" all of her life. Her calling is "making invisible worlds accessible to others" through art, shamanic work and ceremony. Imelda teaches courses in sacred art, shamanism and ancestral healing work internationally. "The difference between contemporary art and sacred art is that contemporary art tends to reflect a fragmented world with a focus on personal stories. Sacred art is made in honour of beings and powers greater than ourselves and it shows the heart of divine mystery that animates the cosmos and dreams our world into being." Since 2012 Imelda has pioneered a shamanic group program for children and teenagers called The Time Travellers. She is currently writing a book about this titled "Natural Born Shamans". She is also working on a picture book introducing shamanic healing work to young children and their families, called "The Dream Healer". Her youngest son Brendan published a book about shamanism when he was just 9 years old. The title is "The Love Hall, Brendan's Travel Guide to the best places in the Spirit World".
