Annamaya kosha: "anna" in sanskrit means "food"; annamayakosha is our physical body and the physical aspects of life as they flow, coming and going Pranamaya kosha: "prana" means energy. This kosha is our energetic body, ruled by the breath which is the driving force of life. By learning to control, focus and steady the breath, one is able to further explore and delve into the other koshas. Manomaya kosha: "mano" means mind. This kosha is our mental/emotional activity--through practice of pranayama (control of the breath) this kosha can be brought to a steady peaceful state. Vijnanamaya kosha: Vijnana means "wisdom" this kosha entails our sense of consiousness, of "I am-ness" Within it is the higher wisdom for seeking truth and spiritual enlightenment. Anandamayakosha: "Ananda" means "bliss" The most interior of the koshas, this is a state of oneness, feeling peace, love, and joy beyond the mind and in the essence of just being.
