This session is a conversation with individuals representing various aspects/expertise (e.g. presenters, agents, peer touring artists, etc.) of the touring ecology and aims to investigate what presenters "do" and what they're looking for. Presenters include 651 Arts, Center Theatre Group, Center for Puppetry Arts and Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. *Presenters subject to change.
Part 1 - National Performance Network's Doin' it on the Road What does it take to tour? What do I need to know before going out on the road? This session offers practical information and strategies for successful touring in today’s landscape including contracts, budgets, insurance, tech riders, etc. Participants will receive helpful links and resources at the end of the session.
Taught by Jason von Hinezmeyer, Resident Puppet Builder, Center for Puppetry Arts Atlanta, GA Recommended for Ages 18+ Join the Center's Resident Puppet Builder, Jason von Hinezmeyer, for a hands-on workshop that introduces several ways of taking a drawn design and turning it into a dimensional puppet.Jason will explore methods and short cuts for sculpting, carving, and patterning puppets of any type. Jason will start a design and go through several different media to arrive at what can be used as a rod puppet, hand puppet, marionette, mask, or even an oversized parade puppet. This is PART I of PART III in this series. In PART I (Drawing), Jason will demonstrate how to take a 2D thumbnail sketch and transform form it into a workable pattern to create a 3D design for use in PART II (Subtractive Sculpting: Wood) & PART III (Additive Sculpting: Clay & Foam).
