After a brief introduction to using imagery, many people find they can use guided imagery to help recover physical and emotional functioning after a traumatic event. In this class we will explore a technique drawing on your own past optimal functioning to re-educate and re-wire the body.
Although Ayurveda is an ancient form of medicine, its principles form the core of a wise lifestyle approach to health that is as relevant today as ever. In this introductory session, we will highlight the Ayurvedic understanding that there are three basic types of mind-body constitutions (or doshas), and each person is a unique blend of all three. In these two 75 minute sessions, learn how to recognize your type and rebalance yourself using foods, spices and herbs, meditation, exercises and other helpful daily routines.
Mounting research on gratitude and self-awareness show that a few simple practices such as using guided imagery, focusing on feelings of gratitude and journaling can dramatically change clinical markers of your health and your feelings of wellbeing. Some studies even show that people who use these simple techniques find jobs faster, do better on exams and have healthier relationships. Come learn how to put these techniques to work for you.
This class is for anyone who has experienced trauma. We will use a mind-body approach that draws on imagery, guided meditation, movement and positive cognitive psychology to help people experiencing trauma to take the necessary steps to safely reach a state of relaxed, focused awareness so that the body's nervous system is more receptive to change and so that old wounds (physical and emotional) can heal more readily.
