Description
Since the beginning of time, human beings have sought information beyond their senses and insight into their futures. Ancient cultures left legends of oracles, bards, and seers who foretold the future. Divination is a tool of both ancient and contemporary mystics for gaining knowledge that is usually inaccessible. In her presentation, Shilo will discuss the Art of Throwing the Bones, a divination technique she learned in Africa from a Zulu Sangoma, and has practiced for the past eleven years.

About Creator
Shilo Morning Star Satran has been practicing earth-based spiritually all of her life. The granddaughter of Norman Nadeau, a native Ojibway, Shilo grew up with great love and respect of the natural world. She spent her summers, as a child and teenager, exploring the Idaho wilderness with her grandfather. In becoming and adult, Shilo "grew" apart from her first love. She obtained a Bachelors of Science degree in mathematics from Boise State University. Later moving to Silicon Valley and established a position in the software industry in Sunnyvale, California, where she lived and worked for years. But change was brewing. She went back to school and earned a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from John F. Kennedy University in Orinda, California. Recognizing her journey was not complete, Shilo was serendipitously led to a workshop with Michael Harner and the Foundation for Shamanic Studies. In this short weekend experiential training, she re-awakened her innate ability to connect with the natural world, and her soul sang with joy! Shilo quickly realized she had found her life's path. She continued to study with Michael Harner and Sandra Ingerman and the Foundation for Shamanic Studies, becoming a graduate of the Foundation's 3 Year Program and a graduate of Sandra Ingerman's 2 Year Teacher Training Program and Medician for the Earth Teacher Training. An unusual happenstance led Shilo to Swaziland, Africa, to train with a Zulu traditional healer, P. H. Mtshali. She spent time on his homestead (rural farm), learning the age old arts of Throwing the Bones (a form of divination) and working with herbs. Mr. Mtshali reconnected Shilo to her First Nation ancestors with days of purification and initiation. As a result of this reconnection, her spiritual work has deepened. Currently, Shilo lives and works in Memphis, Tennessee. Here she blends her skill as a Licensed Professional Counselor with her training as a Shamanic Counselor to facilitate people reconnecting to their inner wisdom and their joy so they can heal.
