Originally from Australia, Kate holds degrees in Education, Counseling, and an MFA in Directing. Kate is a freelance theatre professional who has worked professionally in all aspects of theatre for over 40 years – including acting, directing, producing, writing, management and arts in healthcare
She taught in the theatre department of a liberal arts college for 18 years, founded an arts in healthcare company focusing on storytelling and performance, and was Artistic Associate at a professional theatre company in Oregon where she also developed a successful outreach program.
Kate has an unerring instinct and decades of experience in using the performing arts to bring people together in ways that surprise, delight and empower, inspiring community and building bridges.
Kate is co-founder/Producing Artistic Director of Red Earth Theatre (2013) with whom she has created several original shows including one about recycling, a journey through Shakespeare, a verbatim theatrical performance of the long poem ‘The Wild Party’ performed with live music and ‘Loplop and the Queen’ her original play about Surrealist artists Maz Ernst and Dorothea Tanning who lived for a time in Sedona.
She facilitates arts workshops for veterans at the VA as well as working with the Mental Health Coalition Verde Valley for an annual storytelling/performance project.
Kate developed Performing Wellness ™ and is the author of Personal Magic- Conscious Empowerment Through Creativity & Spirit and offers workshops drawing on those tailored for individuals or groups.
A sometime trail-runner and avid horsewoman, she also offers Equine Conversation sessions where individuals work with one of her horses leading to self-discovery and empowerment.
All of her work, from teaching to theatre to horses, weaves a path to illuminate self-worth and nurture community through creative practical experiences.
