Q) What is Learn It Live?

Learn It Live is a social learning platform that connects people to expert instructors in online classes.

Q) How do I get started as an instructor?

The best resource to get started is our Expert Center, which provides all the info and steps you'll need from start to finish.

Q) What type of classes can I have at Learn It Live?

See our Expert Center for full details. Expert instructors on Learn It Live offer a variety of classes for training, certification, skill enhancement, and fun.

There are three main types of offerings:

  • Classes – group classes, including online courses, Webinars, etc.
  • Events – live events, such as online conferences, seminars, expert panels, etc
  • 1-on-1 Sessions – private online sessions where you connect with experts one-on-one.

Q) I have a conference, seminar or expert panel that I would like to put online. Does Learn It Live provide production and technical support?

Yes. Take a look at our event info page and contact events@learnitlive.com for more information about Learn It Live's Event Production Service.

Q) How do I get a Learn It Live account?

See our Expert Center for full details. You'll apply for an Instructor or Organization account and fill out the one-page application providing details about your expertise and the classes that you are interested in providing at the site. Please fill out this application as completely as possible so we can approve your account quickly.

Q) Now that I have an account, what do I need to do to set up my Learn It Live academy?

Your Learn It Live academy shows learners who you are and what you offer. For example, see this completed academy page.

Setting up your academy is simple. Follow these tips to create a compelling page:

  • Start by clicking "Edit Academy Page" from your private page.
  • When completing your academy, you want to make it as clear and concise as possible. Fill in all relevant information to give the viewer a good overview of your expertise and class offerings.
  • Upload a professional photo or logo so you look your best.
  • Upload or embed a short video describing your background, what you're about, and what you want to bring to the world via Learn It Live.

Q) How do I choose which subject category and subcategory to associate my account?

At sign-up, you must choose at least one category and subcategory combination as your "area of expertise." Once you are approved to the site, you can add other areas of expertise via your "Edit Academy Page." Also, if there is an "area of expertise" that you would like to associate your academy, but is not yet included in the site's listings, you can suggest it for addition.

Q) An image that I uploaded to my academy or class is being cut-off incorrectly. What can I do to fix it?

After you upload an image to your academy or class, you can scale and crop it to ensure the correct area is being used. To do so, click to Edit your academy or class, and underneath your uploaded image, select "Scale & Crop Image."

Q) What do I need to do before creating my first class?

Before creating a class, it is important to get a basic understanding of how live sessions work. We have a few resources to get you started quickly:

Q) How do I create classes?

After logging in to your account, you can create classes by clicking "Create a Class." See a sample class page here.

Some tips on creating your classes:

  • Upload a high-quality, eye-catching image that is a good representation of the class.
  • Upload or embed a video or other content (such as a presentation) that provides a compelling overview or intro to your class.
  • Add the live sessions. You can create a class with 1 or multiple sessions. Please specify the name, duration, and time and date of each session. Before clicking to "create" the class, review the schedule for accuracy.
  • Select the pricing information. Classes can be free or have a cost. If the classes have a cost, you can create promo codes of any amount.

Q) How do I manage, edit, cancel, and message students in my classes?

After creating a class, it will be listed under your "My Classes"

Every class widget has a control panel underneath that allows you to manage the class. Specifically, you can perform 5 actions:

  • Edit: You can edit the class at any time. Click the pencil icon within the control panel.
  • Message All Enrolled: You can send a message to all learners enrolled in the class. Click the mail icon within the control panel.
  • Cancel: You can cancel the class by clicking the cancel icon within the control panel. If there are students enrolled, you will be asked to enter a note about why you are cancelling. To cancel within 24 hours of the first session start time or after it is over, please contact support@learnitlive.com.
  • View Class Report: You can view the class report to see information about who signed up for and attended your class. Click the report icon within the control panel.
  • Copy Referral Link: You can copy a class-specific referral link to send out in your marketing efforts. When a user comes to the site via this referral link, they'll be referred to your account and we'll take a reduced commission from their payments. Click the link icon within the control panel. Q) How will the live sessions be conducted? What can I do during a live session?

All live sessions take place in an interactive virtual classroom with live audio and video. Check out our test room to see it in action.

Q) How do I enter my live session?

Log into your account and click the green "Enter Live Session" button from your private profile. This button becomes activated 30 minutes before the session start time.

Before entering your session, it is best to close all other applications running on your computer. This will ensure an optimized experience. 

Q) Will I be able to watch a session after it is over?

Yes. The recording will be generated within 1 hour after the session ends (in certain rare circumstances, it can take up to 24 hours for processing). The recording will be automatically routed to your profile where it will be permanently accessible for viewing. To access these archived recordings, click on the orange "View Recording" button on the class widget. The beauty of instructing online is that everything is recorded and archived for later review by both you and all registered learners.

Q) I need to cancel a class -- What do I do?

After creating a class, it will be listed under your "My Classes." Every class widget has a control panel underneath that allows you to managel that class. You can cancel the class by clicking the cancel icon within the control panel. If there are students enrolled, you will be asked to enter a note about why you are cancelling. To cancel within 24 hours of the first session start time or after it is over, please contact support@learnitlive.com.

Q) How do I get the payments for my classes on Learn It Live?

When you charge for a class, we accept and process all received payments. Once all live sessions are completed, we transfer the money to an account of your choosing.

You must let us know to which account you'd like to receive the payments. You can do this by clicking "Account" and then "Payment Info."

Q) Does it cost money to use Learn It Live?

There is no up-front or subscription costs for instructors. You decide whether you want your classes to be free or to have a price.

Our fee structure is straightforward. We take a transaction fee and % commission whenever payments are made for a class with a price. Please see this resource for our current commission structure.

Q) What if I bring my existing clients, members, or students to the site? Do you take a commission from them?

One of the benefits of Learn It Live is that we take a greatly reduced commission from the users you bring to the site.

Every instructor is given a referral link to provide to their existing clients, members, or students. When students use that link to sign up to the site, they are automatically referred to your account. We take a greatly reduced commission from these users that you refer. Please email info@learnitlive.com for the current commission structure.

Your personalized referral link is listed in your "Account" under "Referral Info." You can also see all the users that have been referred to your account to date. See this FAQ for information on how to refer people to a specific class.

Finally, if one of your existing clients or members is mistakenly not associated to your account as a referral, please send a note explaining the issue to support@learnitlive.com.

Q) How do I refer people to a specific class?

Every class widget has a control panel underneath that allows you to manage the class (see this FAQ for more info). In this control panel, you'll find a link icon. Click the link icon and you'll be able to copy a specific referral link to send out in your marketing efforts. When a user comes to the site via this referral link, they'll be referred to your account and we'll take a reduced commission from their payments.

Q) Can I see the information about who signed up for and attended my classes?

Yes! Each class has an accompanying report that shows who registered, who attended the live session and for how long, who watched the recording and for how long, and a whole host of other metrics.

To access the class report, click "View Reports" at your Learn It Live private page. Alternatively, you can click the "View Report" icon underneath the class widget in the control panel.

Q) How do I list out my instruction services so that people can see what I offer?

You can list all your instruction services directly on your academy page. This means that prospective customers can see what you offer, and request instruction directly from you.

To add your instruction services, you'll click "Add Instruction Services" from your private page. For each service, you'll need to provide some information and a standard price.

Q) How can people request instruction from me? How do Instruction Requests work?

Instruction Requests allow people to request instruction directly from you. If you have enabled Instruction Requests, then your services will be listed on your academy page. Learners will see the services and can request them directly from you.

Once you receive an Instruction Request, you'll see the specifics of the service sought by the requester. You'll need to create a private class for the individual or group that has requested the service. You can communicate with them to co-ordinate and finalize the program.

Q) How do I use learning content (such as presentations, documents, video, audio, etc.) to complement my classes and events?

The LiL ContentMaker allows you to upload learning content that you can then assign to specific classes or to specific learners.

You can upload content:

  • Documents
  • Presentations
  • Audio
  • Video
  • Images

You can also embed and import content from sites like Youtube, Vimeo, Prezi, Slideshare, Scribd, and Flickr.

You control who can see this content and how they can use it. You also can assign the content to your classes and learners.

When you assign it to a class, the learning content will be listed on the class page.

Click on any of these items to view the learning content. On the content page, you can view the content, download it, and if it is a document, print it by clicking "Print" above the document.

Q) Using my instructor account, can I sign up for and attend classes as a learner?

Yes! In fact, we recommend it.

As an instructor, you have all the same privileges as a learner. The only difference is that the classes that you register for as a learner will be shown under "My Classes (learning)" and won't be shown publicly as part of your own class offerings.

Q) I'd like to receive less notification e-mails from Learn It Live. What can I do?

You have full control over the e-mails we send you. Configure your settings by clicking on "Account" then "Notifications."

Q) How do I send messages to a specific learner?

Every user page has an option to "Send Message." This feature allows you to send a message to a specific learner.

Q) How do I send messages to all my learners at once?

On the lower left-hand side of your private page, you'll see a box that lists all learners that have taken a class from you. Click "Message All" to send them all a message in one go.
